   Porthtowan

The small village of Porthtowan, set in the valley  contains  a village shop, various seasonal shops, Post Office, a public house and a brassarie. Porthtowan is also famous for its sandy beach and surfing competitions during the summer. Abbamead is also close  to the village of St Agnes, once famous for it's central role in the tin & copper mining industry of Cornwall. This village has a range of small shops , places to eat, and craft outlets.  Much of the coast around St Agnes is owned by the National Trust and provides some of  the best scenery in Cornwall, and excellent walking.

A little further up the coast is Perranporth where there is a 3-mile beach and a golf course. The comprehensive leisure centre at Carn Brea is only 6 miles away.
