The Location Being only 3 miles from the A30, we are excellently placed as a base for further exploration of the delights of Cornwall. Truro and its Cathedral is 8 miles away, St Ives with its harbour, quaint shops, narrow lanes and Tate Art Gallery is less than 20 miles. Penzance, St Michael's Mount and the famous village of Mousehole are but 22 miles. Falmouth, with the largest natural harbour in the country and Pendennis castle overlooking , is 13 miles to the South, whilst Land's End is a fairly easy 30 mile drive. The Eden Project just outside St. Austell is approx. 26 miles to the east, and there is a host of other attractions within a forty minute drive. |

Porthtowan The small village of Porthtowan, set in the valley contains a village shop, various seasonal shops, Post Office, a public house and a brassarie. Porthtowan is also famous for its sandy beach and surfing competitions during the summer. Abbamead is also close to the village of St Agnes, once famous for it's central role in the tin & copper mining industry of Cornwall. This village has a range of small shops , places to eat, and craft outlets. Much of the coast around St Agnes is owned by the National Trust and provides some of the best scenery in Cornwall, and excellent walking. A little further up the coast is Perranporth where there is a 3-mile beach and a golf course. The comprehensive leisure centre at Carn Brea is only 6 miles away. |

DIRECTIONS* Heading towards Porthtowan from the St.Agnes direction. The lane is 400 yards past the Victory Inn PH. The turning is on the right hand side opposite a large private house called "TORVEAN". This is Towan Road.
